How to get there: Where is EXPO 2020 Dubai and how to get there?

EXPO 2020 is located in the south of Dubai a bit outside and can be reached best and fastest by metro.

The three main entrances to the three different areas (sustainability, mobility and opportunities) can be reached by different means of transport.

Arrival by metro

The modern EXPO Metro station is right next to the EXPO 2020 Dubai site. From here it takes 2 minutes to the entrance.

The connection by metro is probably the best.
The EXPO site can be reached in about 30 minutes by metro from Dubai Marina and about 45 minutes from the Burj Khalifa metro station.

From the airport in Dubai, the trip by metro takes about an hour (without changing trains).

The Red Line will lead you directly to your destination.

And the trains heading to EXPO 2020 Dubai come at least every five minutes during the busy times of the day.
Sometimes they follow each other in even shorter sections.
Then you wait just two minutes until the next metro arrives. So you don't have to wait long for the train here.

However, make absolutely sure that the Final stop EXPO 2020 because the route forks a few stations beforehand.

Watch out: In the metro there is a Gold Class and a Compartment for women only.
It is better not to enter here without access authorization.

In addition, you are not allowed to eat or drink in the metro.

Arrival by car

There is plenty of parking around the EXPO site.
From there, the shuttle bus will take you to the entrances of the EXPO.


Arrival by bus

From the city center, shuttle buses regularly bring visitors to the EXPO site.
The ride with the so-called "people movers" is even free of charge.

However, they usually take longer than the metro ride.


Arrival by cab

There are several drop-off points in front of the EXPO site.


Unfortunately, the EXPO 2020 passport is not considered an official document. However, German citizens do not need a visa in most cases, if they do not want to stay longer than 90 days in Dubai.

German citizens do not need a visa to enter the UAE (i.e. also Dubai) for tourism, business (without employment) or visiting purposes for a maximum period of 90 days within 180 days.
You are not allowed to work in the UAE for pay or without pay. The authorities may extend the stay beyond 90 days.

Also, if you are a blogger or journalist, you do not need a visa for the UAE, but you do need to be accredited for the EXPO and you will need additional permission to photograph and film outside the EXPO grounds.

Anyone wishing to enter Dubai (as of October 2021), even as a vaccinated person, requires a negative PCR test that must not be older than 72 hours.
